Welcome to Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge located along Alabama's majestic Fort Morgan Peninsula.

Refuge History: Congress established the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge in 1980 in order to provide habitat for migratory birds in the fall and spring seasons. The birds that stop in Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge have been known to fly as far south as Florida, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America. The name Bon Secour is French for "Safe Harbor" which fits perfectly for this plant and animal sanctuary. She has been listed as one of the 10 natural wonders of Alabama.

Wildlife: Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge's sand dunes, saltwater marshes, freshwater swamps, and scrub forests help protect habitat for numerous wild critters including wild pigs, coyotes, armadillos, foxes, and over 400 bird species including ospreys and seven hummingbird species. Please treat their home with respect.

For the lover of the outdoors this refuge boasts over six miles of trails and freshwater and saltwater fishing. Come on out and explore!
