Jenkins Ferry Battleground State Park
Jenkins' Ferry Battleground State Park is a Civil War landmark located southwest of Little Rock, Arkansas. The park was the site of three Civil War battles during the Union Army's Red River Campaign in 1864—one of the war's bloodiest battles. Thomas Jenkins and his sons settled the land in the early 1800s, operating a ferry up until the Civil War in the 1860s.
This state park is a Red River Campaign National Historic Landmark, preserved to include relevant monuments and interpretive panels. There are also picnic tables, a swimming area, a pavilion, and boat access to the Saline River.
This state park is open during daylight hours and is free to visit! Be sure to keep your eye out for those informational markers peppered throughout the park. Each marker showcases different history-related facts. Learn more about the historical relevance of the Red River Campaign by visiting the park's website.
