Welcome to Kartchner Caverns State Park located near Huachuca City, Arizona. This cave was discovered in November 1974 by two people named Randy Tufts and Gary Tenen who kept it a secret for three years and three months before telling people about it in February 1978. They were very interested in protecting the cave so they approached the State of Arizona with the idea for a new state park and over the years they worked very hard with many people including Governor Bruce Babbitt who would later become Secretary of the Interior. In 1988 their dream was finally made into a reality.
