Carpinteria State Beach

Activities:
Camping
Fishing
Picnicking
Sailboarding
Surfing
Swimming

California's beautiful Carpinteria State Beach is located just south of Santa Barbara. The Spanish settlers noticed that many of the Natives practiced their carpentry skills by building canoes on this beach and that is how the place got it's name. Many people flock here not only for aquatic recreation but also excellent wildlife viewing. The currents here are not terribly strong and help make it one of the safer beaches for swimming. Some of the wildlife include sea lions and seals. The park has over 100 campsites and some are developed and some are primitive. To contact the office please call 805-968-1033.
