Welcome to Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park located near Coloma on the banks of the South Fork of the American River. It was at this site where in 1848 James Marshall first discovered gold in the tailrace of his sawmill. This sparked a historic gold rush a year later and today the San Francisco football team is named after that gold rush. Come out and enjoy a living history tour.
