Welcome to Ted Craig Regional Park nestled in the rolling hills of Fullerton, California.
Park History: The earliest human inhabitants of the land that is now Ted Craig Regional Park were Native Americans of the Tongva tribe, a hunter/gather group who lived off the land's resources. In the late 19th century oil was discovered in the region and by the early 20th century drilling began on what is now Ted Craig Regional Park. The drilling infrastructure dotted the landscape and coexisted peacefully with the cattle and horses that lived on the ranch. In the 1930's a devastating flood hit Orange County and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers build the Fullerton Dam in response. It wasn't until the 1970's that the flood basin was made into a park.
This park is named in honor of Ted Craig, a man who held public office in Orange County for many years. Craig was first elected to the Brea City Council in 1928 where he served for four years. In the 1930's he was elected to the California State Legislature where he represented Orange County. After serving 8 years in the State Legislature he stayed in Sacramento to continue fighting for Orange County until he passed away in 1979.
This park boasts numerous recreational opportunities. The two volleyball courts are sand courts. Come on out and have fun.
