Tolay Lake Regional Park
Welcome to Tolay Lake Regional Park in Petaluma, California. Although the lake may be the park's name and central feature it is actually not open to recreation (except for fishing) but the park does boast 11 miles of multipurpose trails along with great views of the San Francisco skyline and San Pablo Bay.
Park History: This park is believed to contain over 8,000 years of human history. Long before the first European settlers arrived in the region this place was considered sacred ground for Native Americans of the Coast Miwok and Southern Mowo Tribes. In more recent times it was used for agricultural purposes before becoming one of the largest recreation areas to be managed by Sonoma County.
