Fort Point National Historic Site
San Francisco, California
Fort Point National Historic Site is a beautiful park located on the San Francisco Bay just under the south end of the world famous Golden Gate Bridge. The fort itself was built during the California Gold Rush days of the mid 19th century as a defense point for San Francisco Bay. Although the Fort never saw combat it does have an important military history.
