Flying J. Ranch Park
Welcome to Jefferson County's magnificent Flying J. Ranch Park established in 1995.
Park History: The Ute trail, which passed through what is now Flying J. Ranch Park helped provide Native Americans, prospectors, and homesteaders access to this land long before it became a park. Two of the land's owners in the 19th century were William Hagen and Ernest Hicks. In 1948 the land was sold to John and Marguerite Schoonhoven who operated it as a cattle ranch for decades. Flying J. Ranch Park got it's name because a former airline pilot John Schoonhoven built a small runway here.
Wildlife: Today the park's forests and meadows provide habitat for elk and various birds of prey. Please treat their home with respect.
For the lover of the outdoors Flying J. Ranch Park boasts scenic vistas and so much more. Come on out and explore.
