Alderfer/Three Sisters Park

Evergreen, Colorado

Welcome to Alderfer/Three Sisters Park in Jefferson County, Colorado.

Park History: One of the first white settlers of what is now Alderfer/Three Sisters Park was a man named James Hester, who built a house and barn on this land in 1873. In 1894 the house and barn were destroyed in a fire and a new ranch house was built that was eventually sold to a man named E.J. Alderfer and his wife. The Alderfer Family occupied the land and operated it as a cattle ranch until switching to horses in 1970. The Alderfer Family eventually donated some of their land to Jefferson County. Another piece of the park was once owned by the Wyant Family, who also made a generous donation to Jefferson County. The name three sisters comes from rock formations from the Precambrian Era inside the park known as the three sisters and brother.

Wildlife: Alderfer/Three Sisters Park is home to numerous wild animals including white-tailed deer, chipmunks, rabbits, squirrels, wild turkeys, mountain bluebirds, ravens, and Cooper's hawks. Please treat their home with respect.

For the lover of the outdoors this park boasts over 10 miles of trails, beautiful scenery, and so much more. Come on out and explore.
