Mount Falcon Park

Indian Hills, Colorado

Welcome to Mount Falcon Park located west of Denver in the Rocky Mountain Foothills of Indian Hills, Colorado. This beautiful land was once owned by a man named John Brisben Walker, who lived in a stone house on this property in the early 20th Century while planning to build a vacation home for the President of the United States. Thousands of Colorado school children donated pocket change to build the "Summer White House" but in World War I brought an end to the project and in 1918 Walker's home burned down. This land was first purchased by Jefferson County in 1974 and today it provides open space protection and recreation for local residents and visitors. Come out and explore.

This was RecPlanet place of the day on December 17, 2016.
