Red Mountain Open Space

Welcome to Red Mountain Open Space, one of the largest parks in the Larimer County system covering over 13,000 acres. This park was created as part of the larger Larmie Foothills to Mountains Project which has protected tens of thousands of acres. The parks diverse landscape includes rolling grasslands and crimson and tan rocks. The park boasts a high level of biodiversity with some plants as rare as gold. Park History: The park's human history dates back over 12,000 years, twice as far back as when the Egyptians build the pyramids. There are still artifacts to be found in the park but scavenging is strictly forbidden. The park provides over 8 miles of multi-purpose trails as well as wildlife for deer, elk, black bears, coyotes, and mountain lions.
