Lathrop State Park
Welcome to Lathrop State Park located at the foot of the Spanish Peaks in southern Colorado.
Park History: This is Colorado's first State Park. In the late 17th century many Native Americans fled the violence and cruelty of the Spanish settlers in the region that is now New Mexico and moved to southern Colorado. Lathrop State Park was established in 1962 and named after State Park's director Harold Lathrop.
Flora and Fauna: Lathrop State Park helps protect the home of numerous plant and animals species. Some of the plants that grow inside the park boundaries include pinyons, junipers, rabbitbrush, and purple threeawns. Some of the wild animals who call this place home include bobcats, mule deer, black bears, coyotes, and cottontail rabbits. Please treat their home with respect.
For the lover of the outdoors this park boasts over five miles of trails, 103 campsites, and so much more. The campsites have electrical hookups but not water hookups. Come on out and explore!
