Welcome to Mansfield Hollow State Park located in Chaplin, Connecticut.

Park History: Mansfield Hollow State Park has a unique geological history that dates back to over 20,000 years ago when glaciers up to a mile thick covered much of Connecticut. As the glaciers receded they deposited glacial soil in the region made up of gravel and sand and helped form hills and ravines. In more recent times the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dammed up the Natchug River in order to create a lake for boating and fishing as well as to supply drinking water for the region (Thus swimming is not allowed in the lake).

For the lover of the outdoors this park boasts multipurpose trails, a lake stocked with fish, and much more. Come on out and have a blast.

This was RecPlanet place of the day on September 14, 2015.
