River Highlands State Park

Cromwell, Connecticut

Welcome to Connecticut's River Highlands State Park, a place that was established in 2001 and is considered to be a 21st Century State Park. This piece of land was once farms and pastures and today it helps protect a nautral oasis from the growing suburbs of Hartford. One of the more unique features of this park is known as the blowhole where one can hear the music of the wind as it passes through the bluffs. The Native Americans referred to this sound as "the wind being caught by the spirit of the Earth. When the first Europeans arrived they called it Devil's Blowhole. This park boasts hiking trails, excellent bird watching opportunities, and much more. Come on out and explore.
