Welcome to Connecticut's Silver Sands State Park located along the Atlantic Coast. Legend has it that a pirate named Captain Kidd buried his treasure on the nearby Charles Island in the late 17th century. After damange done by Hurricane Diane in 1955 the State of Connecticut began to purchase the parcels that would ultimately make up Silver Sands State Park. The original vision for the park was to drain the wetlands and build parking lots in order to give the visitor beach access but today the goal is to return the park to it's natural setting. Even though the parking lots were never built this park does provide beach access and allows for fishing. Come on out and have fun.
