Mohegan Park

Welcome to Mohegan Park, the largest park in Norwich, Connecticut as well as one of the most popular.

Park History: The history of this park dates back to 1906 when 6 local residents deeded their land to the City of Norwich to create the first 200 acres of today's Mohegan Park. It was in 1908 when the park was named for a local Native American tribe.

Fishing: The ponds at Mohegan Park help make this place a state designated trout park. The ponds are stocked in the early part of the fishing season and aside from trout other fish include Bullhead and Channel Catfish and Sunfish. Come out and cast a line.

Picnicking: Mohegan Park has 2 picnic shelters, the Group Pavilion as well as the Lakeside Pavilion. The Group Pavilion has an 80-100 person capacity with a charcoal BBQ pit and running water. The Lakeside Pavilion has an 80 person capacity.

Trails: Mohegan Park has both paved as well as unpaved trails which altogether total over 1.7 miles. The Red Trail is a 0.7 mile loop trail, the Blue Trail is 0.4 miles, and the Green Trail is 0.6 miles. The colored trails are the maintained trails.

The park's official website says 384.8 acres but the GIS data gives the number below. Thus the exact acreage is unknown.
