Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge
Welcome to Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge located in southeast Florida near Boynton Beach.
Refuge History: Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1951 under the authority of the Migratory Bird Conservation Act in order to help protect the last remaining stand of Everglades in Palm Beach County helping to protect wildlife habitat and control regional flooding.
Wildlife: Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge helps protect the home of numerous plant and animal species. Some of the plants that grow inside the refuge boundaries including myrtles, cypresses, buttonbushes, coco-plums, and sawgrass. Some of the wild animals that call this place home include spoonbills, Everglades snail kites, wood storks, short-tailed hawks, sandhill cranes, Arctic peregrine falcons, blue herons, alligators, raccoons, and the endangered Florida Panther. Please treat their home with respect.
