Lake Louisa State Park

Welcome to Florida's Lake Louisa State Park located in Clermont. In 1823 this land became part of the Seminole Reservation under the Treaty of Moultrie Creek. Some of the first white settlers to live on this land were a couple by the name of John and Louise Hammond (Not the same John Hammond who started Jurassic Park. RecPlanet Joke). On their land they established a church, a schoolhouse, and three operating mills. The Hammonds used barges and steamboats to ship off their merchandise. Over the years this land was also used for orange groves until the State of Florida purchased the land in the 1970s.

Wildlife: Lake Louisa State Park helps protect the habitat of numerous wild animals including white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, raccoons, and the threatened gopher tortoise. Please treat their home with respect.

For the recreational enthusiast Lake Louisa State Park boasts over 20 miles of multipurpose trails, 60 campsites, numerous aquatic opportunites and more. Come out and explore.
