Welcome to Goethe State Forest located in north Florida along the Gulf Coast. This land was purchased by the State of Florida in 1992 under the Conservation and Recreation Lands Program and was named for the former owner, J.T. Goethe. Flora and Fauna: Goethe State Forest supports many different natural communities including sandhills, dome swamps, basin swamps, and scrubby flatwoods. Some of the plants that grow inside the forest boundaries include pine trees, hooded pitcher plants, and coonties. Some of the wild animals who call this place home include black bears, gopher tortoises, fox squirrels, bald eagles, raccoons, and wild turkeys. Please treat their home with respect. For the lover of the outdoors Goethe State Forest boasts miles of multipurpose trails, numerous campsites, and so much more. Come on out and have a blast!
