Welcome to Peanut Island Park located in Riviera Beach, Florida.

Park History: Peanut Island is actually a man-made Island made from the excavated material from the Lake Worth Inlet in 1918. In 1923 the Port was using the island as a spoil site for canal maintenance. In 1991 the land was sold to the Florida Inland Navigation District as a spoil site for maintenance dredging of the Intracoastal Waterway. The island is still used as a spoil site but it's perimeter is a public park. The name Peanut Island has it's roots from a time when the State of Florida gave permission for the island to be used as a terminal for shipping peanut oil. Even though this idea was canceled in 1946, the island still kept the name and it is said that the name draws many elephant visitors from all over the world (RecPlanet Joke).

For the lover of the outdoors Peanut Island boasts a swimming beach (some sections guarded some sections not), a fishing pier, three picnic pavilions, 20 campsites, and so much more. Come on out and have fun.
