Big Shoals State Park
Welcome to the beautiful Big Shoals State Park, the only place in Florida where one can find whitewater rapids. The limestone bluffs rise as high as 80 feet above the river and when the water level is between 59 and 61 feet above sea level there are Class III rapids on the river. For many centuries before the first Europeans set foot in this part of the world Native Americans of the Apalachee and Timucuan Tribes used this land for fishing, mining, and swimming. Not all of the park's recreational opportunities are on the water there are also over 28 miles of multipurpose trails just waiting to be explored.
