Sandy Creek Nature Park is a grand and beautiful park located in Athens, Georgia just north of downtown. It helps protect the wildlife habitat of white-tailed deer, foxes, opossums, armadillos, screech owls, red-tailed hawks, raccoons, and many others. But aside from protecting natural habitat it also has animals in captivity in it's nature center, a popular field trip destination for local school children. In captivity one can view reptiles, amphibians and freshwater and saltwater aquariums. Some of the park's recreational amenities include over four miles of trails, a boat ramp to Lake Chapman, a sand volleyball court, two basketball courts, two tennis courts, a picnic area with grills, and much more. Come out and explore!

The Nature Center can be accessed at 205 Old Commerce Road.
