Welcome to what many call "The Grand Canyon of the Pacific," Hawaii's magnificent Waimea Canyon State Park. The canyon itself was formed by the Waimea River over a very long time and there was once a volcano in the region that collapsed about 10 million years ago. Many people from around the world come here to see beautiful rainbows, cascading waterfalls, towering cliffs, and wild foliage.

Trails: Waimea Canyon State Park boasts several trails. The Cliff Trail is a very easy hike and is not much more than a tenth of a mile in length. The Canyon Trail is moderate difficulty and takes about 3 hours to finish and goes past 800 foot Waimea Falls at the  halfway point and the Kumuwela Lookout is at the end of the trail. The Black Pipe Trail is about an 8 mile stretch of moderate difficulty. Finally the Kukui Trail is the most difficult trail and leads to the bottom of the canyon.
