Welcome to Ledges State Park located near Madrid, Iowa. Archeologists have discovered artifacts from human settlements dating back over 4,000 years inside Ledges State Park and these include items from the Sioux, Fox, and Sauk Tribes. The park's sandstone formations are over 300 million years old and were left behind by the retreat of an ancient sea and then carved out by glacial retreat about 13,000 years ago. The unique canyon country of Ledges State Park makes it one of Iowa's most popular State Parks. The Civilian Conservation Corps helped construct many of her amenities which include hiking trails, nearly 100 campsites, and much more. Come on out and have fun.
