Welcome to Wilson Island State Recreation Area located on the banks of the Missouri River in Missouri Valley, Iowa. This park is named after a sandbar that came into existence at the end of the 19th century and was named for former Governor George Wilson. The cottonwood forests here are a great place for wildlife viewing and one may see a white-tailed deer, a flock of geese, or some raccoons. Come out and explore five miles of multipurpose trails. On some days you will see young Dennis Mitchell at this park (RecPlanet joke).

To contact the office please call 712-642-2069.

This was RecPlanet place of the day on October 10, 2017.
