Garfield Wildlife Area

Rock Valley, Iowa

Welcome to Garfield Wildlife Area located on the banks of the Rock River in Rock Valley, Iowa. This preserve is primarily upland game cover and there are no official trails but if you can find your own way then you are welcome to come explore on foot. It does have a canoe/kayak launch into the Rock River and also some great birdwatching, fishing, and hunting opportunities. Hunters are welcome to shoot deer and small game but there is one Orange Tabby Cat that appears on occasion and is a protected animal for whom the preerve is named (RecPlanet Joke).
