Welcome to one of the largest forest preserves in Will County, the Goodenow Grove Forest Preserve at nearly 900 acres. The first parcel of land was acquired in 1938 and additional larger parcel in 1977 when a Boy Scout Camp was purchased. In 1996 it was dedicated as a state nature preserve. Today it protects a variety of habitats including forest, meadows, marshes, savannas and prairies. It also provides home to endangered species such as the eastern massassauga rattlesnake, the Kirtlands watersnake, the spotted coral root orchid, and the ear-leafed foxglove just to name a few. Please treat their home with respect.

For the lover of the outdoors this preserve boasts the Plum Creek Nature Center as well as a sledding hill and skating pond to be enjoyed in the winter months. There are also over 4 miles of trails in the preserve just waiting to be explored. Come on out and explore.
