Welcome to Randolph County State Recreation Area, located in the rolling hill country of southern Illinois near Chester.

Park History: The State of Illinois purchased this land in 1958 and began the construction of a 65 acre lake that was finished in 1961.

For the lover of the outdoors Randolph County offers numerous opportunities and is a cool retreat on hot summer days. This park boasts nearly 12 miles of multipurpose trails, 95 campsites, and a lake full of rainbow trout, largemouth bass, sunfish, crappie, catfish, and walleye. Come on out and explore!
