Mallard Lake Forest Preserve
Welcome to Mallard Lake Forest Preserve, an oasis of wetlands, forests, and grasslands located in Hanover Park, Illinois. This nearly 1,000 acre preserve boasts many peat and gravel deposits left behind by the Wisconsin Glacier at the end of the last ice age.
Wildlife: Mallard Lake Forest Preserve helps protect the home of numerous wild critteres including bull frogs, great blue herons, raccoons, squirrels, beavers, meadowlarks, boblinks, great horned owls, red-tailed hawks, and many others. Mallard Lake is the largest lake in DuPage County.
For the lover of the outdoors this preserve boasts a boat launch (no gasoline motors and nothing over 20 feet, must be registered with the state and contain PFD), a lake stocked with buegill, bass, crappie, catfish, and northern pike (wheelchair accessible fishing), a dog off-leash area, a picnic shelter, a multipurpose trail, and so much more. Come on out and explore.
