Heron Creek Forest Preserve

Welcome to the Heron Creek Forest Preserve! This preserve protects valuable wetlands habitat as well as forest and open fields. This is part of the Indian Creek basin which has the highest wetland classification in Lake County. Over 116 species of birds make their home here in the Heron Creek Forest Preserve including ospreys, red-shouldered hawks, and hersons. Please treat their home with respect.
The preserve offers over 2 miles of multi-purpose trails as well as 2 picnic shelters. The preserve also has a playground (handicap accessible) for children from ages 2 to 12. Come on out and explore.
