Welcome to the Runyon Forest Preserve located on the banks of Fiddyment Creek and named after the first permanent settler of Lockport, Armstead Runyon who came in 1830. It first became a preserve in 1934. This park's picnic shelter can fit 50 people and can be reserved by calling 815-727-8700. A person can also obtain a geocaching permit by calling this same number. Some of the wild animals that can be seen at the Runyon Forest Preserve include turtles, squirrels, red-tailed hawks, raccoons, and the western chorus frog. Come on out and explore.
