Lincoln Trail State Park
Welcome to Lincoln Trail State Park located in Clark County, Illinois near Marshall. Whether one is looking to learn some history or some botany or simply enjoy recreational opportunities, Lincoln Trail State Park is a great destination.
Park History: Before the arrival of European Settlers, Native American tribes including the Miami, Mascouten, and Kickapoo occupied the land. The park itself is named after the route the President Lincoln's family used to travel from Indiana to Illinois. The land became a State Park in 1958. One of the park's unique features is the American Beech Woods State Nature Preserve. This preserve consists of deep ravines and lush maple forest that have remained relatively unchanged since the pioneer days. Squaw-roots and beech drops, two wildflowers that do not have chlorophyll, also help to make this park unique. Some of the wild animals that can be found here include white-tailed deer, foxes, coyotes, red-tailed hawks, and snapping turtles.
For the lover of the outdoors Lincoln Trail State Park boasts two campgrounds (water and electricity included), several picnic areas, a boat ramp (10HP limit), and nearly three miles of hiking trails. Come on out and explore!
