Welcome to Gebhard Woods State Park located in Grundy County, Illinois near Morris.

Park History: The Grundy County Rod & Gun Club purchased this land in 1934 from Mrs. William Gebhard and donated it to the State of Illinois for a State Park. Many of the park's amenities were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps which was first established during the Great Depression under President FDR.

Plants and animals: Some of this park's plants species include white trout lily, wild ginger, bluebell, maple, sycamore, oak, ash and many others. Some of the park's wild animals include beavers, muskrats, raccoons and the occasional deer. Please treat their home with respect.

Though small in size this park is a popular destination for anglers and canoeists. The park also offers access to the 61 mile Illinois & Michigan Canal State Trail. Come on out and have fun.

The campsites are all primitive. To contact the park office please call 815-942-0796.
