Thorn Creek Woods Nature Preserve

Park Forest, Illinois

Welcome to one of the largest preserves in Will County, the Thorn Creek Woods Nature Preserve at nearly 1,000 acres in size. It started off as a small 5 acre preserve in 1974 but with the help of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, the Villages of Park Forest and University Park, it's size has grown dramatically. Portions of the preserve were dedicated as a state nature preserve in 1978, 1993, and 2001. Today the park boasts over 2 miles of trails but due to the sensitive ecosystem dogs are prohibited. Come on out and explore.
