Isle a la Cache Preserve
Welcome to the Isle a la Cache Preserve, an island oasis in the Des Plaines River.
Preserve History: This island was once used by French traders in the 18th century. In the early 20th century it was private property but still used for recreation and was the site of private vacation homes and sportsman's clubs. In 1982 Will County purchased the land.
Wildlife: This preserve helps protect the home of numerous wild animals including egrets, herons, squirrels, and turtles. Please treat their home with respect.
For the lover of the outdoors this preserve makes a great picnic destination, provides access to many trails, and so much more. Come on out and explore.
