Welcome to the Lyon/Richard Young Forest Preserve located on the Fox River in Yorkville, Illinois. This natural park protects a diversity of habitats from wetlands, to prairies, to forest. Some of the unique features of this preserve are the seeps where the groundwater comes out of the hillsides making it possible for plants such as the marsh marigold and skunk cabbage to grow here. Some of the wild animals include white-tailed deer, raccoons, squirrels, foxes, and many others. There are nearly three miles of hiking trails to be explored here.
