Texas Lake State Wildlife Area
Pratt, Kansas
Welcome to Texas Lake State Wildlife Area located in southern Kansas. Many years back these wetlands were drained to provide land for agricultural purposes. In more recent times, with the help of Ducks Unlimited, the State of Kansas purchased these lands and undid what the farmers did, they plugged the drain and the wetlands returned. Texas Lake State Wildlife Area gives habitat to numerous wild animals including blue herons, white-tailed deer, and snapping turtles. Please treat their home with respect.
