Green River State Forest

Activities:
Fishing

Hunting

Welcome to the Green River State forest, an oasis of swamps and rolling hills located in Henderson County, Kentucky! Forest History: In 1978, the State of Kentucky purchased the land that is now Green River State Forest in order to build a center of production and research for synthetic fuels. For various reasons, the property never served it's initial purpose and was transferred to the Division of Forestry in 1998, two decades after the land was purchased. Today the forest, consisting of wetlands and bottomland hardwood forests is the site of the first Carbon Sequestration Projet. Wildlife: Green River State Forest helps protect the home of numerous wild critters including the rare Copperbelly Water Snake. Please treat their home with respect. For the lover of the outdoors this forest boasts multipurpose trails and so much more. Come on out and have a blast!
