Madisonville City Park
Madisonville City Park was first established during the Great Depression Era and many of the park's amenities were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps under President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Works Progress Administration. At the time the land was purchased, the mayor was a woman named Beverly Waddill and the park was originally called "Waddill's Folley." The park's golf course is considered one of the best municipal golf courses in the State of Kentucky and the baseball stadium is named in honor of sports personality Elmer Kelly. The city once had a professional baseball team known as the Madisonville Miner's that played in the stadium. Some of the park's other amenities include horseshoe pits, a 1.25 mile gravel walking trail, an Amphitheatre, two fishing lakes, an 18 hole disc-golf course, 12 picnic shelters, a playground for the kids, and much more. Come out and have fun!
