For many years this place was the summer home of the Banks Family and the last family member to own it was Charles Goodspeed who named is Farandnear because "far enough to require a 2 day journey by horse to reach, but near enough to be a vacation home. Come out in the spring and summer to see beautiful wildflowers, see 80 species of trees in the arboretum, and do some birdwatching.
