Hartwick Pines State Park
Welcome to one of the largest state park's in Michigan's lower peninsula the magnificent Hartwick Pines State Park. This park is named for the former landowner Karen Michelson Hartwick whose father was a career lumberjack who cofounded Salling-Hanson Logging Company. Mrs. Hartwick donated the land to the State of Michigan in memory of her husband Major Edward Hartwick who died overseas while fighting in World War I. Today this park is home to the state logging museum. The Civilian Conservation Corps built many of the park's facilities.
