Hill Annex Mine State Park
Like the name says, Hill Annex Mine State Park is the location of an old mining site. The mine has it's roots in the late 19th and early 20th century and by the year 1978 by which time it has produced over 63 million tons of Iron Ore. Today the park offers mine tours, fossil hunts, as well as wildlife habitat for creatures such as deer, timberwolves, coyotes, bears, and the reintroduced peregrine falcon. The site became a Minnesota State Park in 1988.
