Welcome to Split Rock Creek State Park, located in Pipestone County near Jasper.

Park History: Glacial movements during the last ice age left a deposit of sand, gravel, rocks, and clay, known as a till in this region. Underneath the till lies a hard bedrock formation known as Sioux quartzite which has been mined in this region. In 1938, the Works Progress Administration used some of the mined quartzite to construct a large dam in order to create a man made lake for water recreation.

Wildlife: Split Rock Creek State Park protects the habitat of many wild critters including squirrels, meadowlarks, beavers, woodpeckers, and many others. Please treat their home with respect.

For the lover of the outdoors this park boasts nearly five miles of hiking trails, a volleyball net, a picnic shelter, and 28 campsites (21 of them have electricity). Come on out and explore!
