Lake Bronson State Park
Welcome to Lake Bronson State Park located near the United States/Canada border in Lake Bronson, Minnesota.
Park History: The land that makes up Lake Bronson State Park was formed by stages of glacial retreat at the end of the last ice age many thousands of years ago. The town of Lake Bronson was once simply called Bronson. The fact that they changed the name to Lake Bronson is an indicator of the lake's significance to the town's history. Natural lake's are relatively scarce in this region of Minnesota (how ironic for the land of 10,000 lakes), many wells began to dry up in the 1930's and a dam was constructed on the South Fork Two River creating a decent sized man-made lake. Aside from the dam, bathhouses, and observation tower, and a beach were also constructed and all facilities were transferred to the State of Minnesota. In 1937, Two Rivers State Park was established and in 1945 the name was changed to Lake Bronson State Park.
Wildlife: The park's landscape is a transition zone from prairie to forest and helps protect numerous species of plants and animals. Some of the park's wild critters include the American Elk, black bears, sandpipers, and many others. Please treat their home with respect.
For the lover of the outdoors Lake Bronson State Park boasts many miles of multipurpose trails, a swimming beach, over 100 campsites (67 with electricity), and several picnic areas. Come on out and explore!
