Big Woods Heritage Forest State Wildlife Management Area

Lonsdale, Minnesota

Welcome to Big Woods Heritage Forest State Wildlife Management Area in Lonsdale, Minnesota. This diverse preserve is a rolling topography mix of forest, grasslands, and wetlands. The name Big Woods comes from the fact that this place helps protect what remains of what was once a much larger forest. Some of the resident wildlife include blue herons and chorus frogs which means there is probably some good music here in the summer months. Other wild animals here include black bears, white tailed deer, and wild turkeys. Come out for some great viewing opportunities.
