McClung Park
Jefferson City's McClung Park was first established in 1915 and it's amenities were built using the labor of the State Prisoners chain gang (it is not known whether or not Sam Cooke was there to sing). Over the past 100 years it has served as a popular recreation area for the visitors and residents of Jefferson City. The park's 160 person capacity picnic shelter is a popular place for local events. This was RecPlanet place of the day on March 2, 2015.
