Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park
Welcome to Missouri's unique Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park, a wilderness park located in the Saint Francois Mountains near the town of Middle Brook and surrounded by the Mark Twain National Forest. This park was named for the Johnson Family who migrated to the region from the Appalachian Mountains and started a farm here in 1829. In 1965 a Saint Louis resident by the name of Joseph Desloge purchased the land and donated it to the State of Missouri and Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park was established. Today there are 37 miles of trails just waiting to be explored. Many people come here from miles around on hot summer days to enjoy one of the best swimming holes in Missouri.
Camping and Lodging: The campground at Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park has a variety of campsites, from walk in sites to sites with electricity, water, and sewer. Bathhouses and a campground store are located nearby. For those who would prefer to sleep indoors the park also has 6 cabins. Come out and stay a few nights.
