Brickyard Hill Conservation Area

Polk Township, Missouri

Welcome to Brickyard Hill Conservation Area located in Polk Township, Missouri in Atchison County. The soil of this region is known as loess and formed as a result of receding glaciers depositing clay and silt at the end of the last ice age. The loess soil was great for making bricks and a brick factory was established here at the end of the 19th century. This forest and prairie preserve, at least at the time this description was written in 2021, contains a burr oak tree that is over 3 centuries in age. Come out and explore the hiking trails.

Fishing and Hunting: Many Anglers come to the 13 acre lake at Brickyard Hill Conservation Area to catch bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, sunfish and walleye. Many Hunters come for deer, rabbit, squirrel, and wild turkey.
