Lead Mine Conservation Area

Tunas, Missouri

Welcome to Lead Mine Conservation Area located near Tunas, Missouri in Dallas County. This preserve helps protect nearly 6 miles of riverbanks including about 2 miles of the Niangua River and 3.5 miles of Jakes Creek. The first 600 acres of the preserve were purchased from the University of Missouri in 1965 and the preserve grew greatly in size over the years through several funding sources to bring it to it's current size of nearly 7,800 acres.
